Three Years in the Making

Um, hi.  Remember me?  It has been a LONG time since I've blogged.  So much has changed in my life since then.  I've picked up photography, gone to community college, met my wonderful boyfriend there, and transfered this past Fall to start my degree in Textiles Development and Marketing at FITSeveral more kids that I went to high school and elementary school with died tragically, but I'm going to keep this knitty and upbeat. I'm also more happy than I could have ever imagined at the time when I first spotted Veronik Avery's Mosaic Yoke Jacket pattern in 2008.

Whilst my dreams of grandeur and ultimate happiness at Franklin and Marshall College were crumbling before my eyes, I took my second trip downtown to Lancaster Yarn Shop.  I was groping the yarn when the shop owner Wendy asked me if I had ever seen a copy of Interweave Knits before.  When I shook my head, she closed the copy she had in front of her, handed it to me, and told me to keep it.  That magazine accompanied me on many a rough, lonely, anxiety-ridden meal at the dining hall and it meant a lot more to me than Wendy could have imagined.  That was the first time I ever really felt welcome in a yarny environment, and it brought me comfort when I sought it the most.

In flipping through the magazine the first time, my eye was immediately drawn to the Mosaic Yoke Jacket.  I marveled at the color and the texture, the complexity and the styling with a modern but really classic appeal.  I've wanted to make that jacket since October 2008, and now, I've finally worked up the courage to conquer it.  To sum it all up, it is symbolic and exciting project that I can't wait to share.

I'm going to try my bestest to blog about it as I go along.
